I always wonder why these rich men who are so “shafted” by the courts in divorce cases make so little effort to engage in the mens movement…
One would think, with their money and resources, they could spend a bit on something that would help other men, and perhaps not so much on lawyers fees..
At the end of the day, a multimillionaire is not going to be rendered homeless following divorce, as many men and fathers are..
Yet, they clearly don’t care about the plight of the common man enough to help fund campaigns to change the whole situation for the better..
I wonder the same. Funding is so key, yet those with the funds could not be less interested.
You have a great question. I suspect the answer is a combination of prevailing attitudes towards individualism and independence, and a motivation that MWM frequently points out in his videos: money. Since rich men have already made their fortunes in their given societies and status quo, they are not inclined to support social change. They can already afford comfort and luxury for the rest of their lives in spite of social bias against them, so why bother changing anything? Now, you might argue that everyone ultimately benefits if everyone recognizes the differences between men and women and works toward making the two sexes complementary and not in competition, as MWM would say. However, a rich man won’t care unless he is convinced that investing into men’s rights will give him a positive net present value. You might wonder now that if what I said is true, then why do we observe some rich men supporting philanthropy, which doesn’t grow their money? Well, there’s still not a great economic explanation for why people may behave altruistically. But my guess is that the potential recognition, gratitude, and self-happiness makes altruism “feel” worthwhile. I further speculate that it is basically conspicuous consumption.
Anyway, the above are just some rough thoughts of mine. For more developed thoughts and resources, check out the links on this site. Personally, I like Harry’s posts on his site angryharry.com.
